2016 Honda Amaze

Honda has launched the face lifted and revamped 2016 Amaze in Indian markets and going by initial responses and indications, the compact sedan is well on its way towards becoming a hot seller. The Honda Amaze sub-compact sedan was first launched in April 2013 and there were no mid-life updates given to the vehicle till the launch of the new version.

The new Honda Amaze comes with minor design tweaks including revamped rear and front bumpers, distinctive chrome laced grille and new enclosures for the fog lamps coupled with slightly reworked tail lamps. The new Amaze is priced at INR 5.29 lakh onwards (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base model and this goes up to INR 8.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top end variant. The sub 4m sedan segment has been led by the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire for a long time while the Amaze has held onto the second spot. These two biggies are followed by other rivals like the Hyundai Xcent, Ford Figo Aspire and the Tata Zest.

However, the lack of updates did lead to a slump in sales for the Amaze and December 2015 witnessed sales of just 2, 933 units as compared to the 16, 790 units sold of the Swift Dzire. However, the new Amaze is expected to change things with interesting features, design changes and a lot more.  Design wise, the Amaze will still have the elliptical headlamps derived from the Brio compact car while the wing mirrors now get integrated turn indicators and there are brand new alloys and a Bluish Titanium color added to the present lineup.

The face lifted model gets an upgraded cabin. One of the most interesting features of the car is its brand new central console. This console gets a piano black finish which looks really classy in addition to brushed aluminum inserts. The instrument cluster also looks completely different. The air conditioning vents are squared and look smart as compared to the round ones previously. The dual tone black and beige interior theme has been retained along with the gear shift knob and three spoke steering wheel. Otherwise, the entire console looks mint fresh and this is one of the biggest attractions of the car.

Though the Amaze remains mechanically unchanged and the same i-VTEC 1.2 litre petrol engine is used along with the i-DTEC 1.5 litre diesel mill, Honda is offering a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) option by way of transmission apart from the regular 5 speed manual transmission unit. CVT is a first in this segment. The CVT has been impeccably tuned for offering better power minus any compromises on fuel economy. Honda has stated that better NVH levels can be expected from the Amaze along with improved ride quality.

Another exciting feature offered with the 2016 Honda Amaze is automatic climate control which is definitely a welcome addition as far as customers as concerned. The 2016 Honda Amaze also offers Honda Connect mobile service integration which is a major attraction for buyers. The car also comes with a new 2-DIN audio system with telephony and Bluetooth streaming abilities which is the fifth and most exciting feature of the lot.
