The leader in utility car manufacturer in India, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has launched the 6 speed automatic version of the Mahindra XUV500 1.99 litre in Delhi NCR. It is now available in W6, W8 and W10 models in Delhi.
Due to the government imposed ban on cars with diesel engines with a displacement capacity of over 2000 cc in the Delhi NCR, Mahindra and Mahindra has downsized the 2.2 litre mHawk 140 engine to 1,997 cc in the XUV500 model. This new engine can produce 140 hp and 320 Nm torque in the XUV500, although it does not come with the 6 speed automatic gearbox that was available in the 2.2 litre model available in other cities, until now. The same motor also rives the Scorpio, but is tuned to generate maximum 120bhp at 4000rpm and 280Nm of peak torque between 1800 and 2800rpm in the Scorpio. The top trim model of the XUV500, W10 will come equipped with features like a reverse parking camera with guide lines, offline GPS guided navigation displayed on a 7.0 inch touch screen interface, Bluetooth, USB and iPod connectivity, climate control, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, tyre pressure monitoring, start/stop push button, and Mahindra’s Blue Sense system.
Mahindra has got plans to launch the XUV500 1.99 in both MT and AT versions in more states like Kerala in the near future, if their respective courts approve NGT’s diesel ban like in Delhi NCR. But for now, this model will only be available in Delhi NCR.
The Mahindra XUV500 1.99 AT variant comes loaded with safety features such as airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP) and Hill Hold control. The top model also has got electric sunroof with anti-pinch and logo-projection lamps on ORVMs. Other features include touch screen infotainment system with USB/GPS/Bluetooth connectivity, 6 way power adjustable driver’s seat, tilt power steering, power adjustable ORVMs and projector head lights.
Mahindra XUV500 price starts from 15.96 lakh in Delhi, while Mahindra XUV500 1.99 AT TCO is expected to be quite reasonable indeed.
