What Lies Behind The Popularity Of The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza?

The last year was extremely eventful for Maruti Suzuki India Ltd since they went high on the crests of success while releasing Nexa premium showrooms, S-Cross and Baleno, but also hit the troughs when it came to selling figures and successes at big motoring awards.

But after the Delhi Auto Expo in 2016, they have started to kick again. With two concept cars and a new compact SUV lined up, they have shown their determination to change into a good premium car manufacturer with the “Transformation” philosophy.

Maruti Suzuki’s new compact SUV, the Vitara Brezza, looks like a good lead for their new mission. Starting with the appearance of the plans, this car is a far cry from what a standard Maruti Suzuki car is expected to be. Developed 98% in India at the price of Rs 860 crore, the new Vitara Brezza comes with a bold new hexagonal radiator grille slot with broad chrome lines.

The “bull-horn” LED head lights to look aggressive, while the rear portion looks a bit like the S-Cross. Vitara Brezza is shorter in dimension than the S-Cross but wider, which makes it appear a bit larger than the smoothly built crossover model.

And what adds a touch of class to it is the dual tone colour scheme which Maruti Suzuki offers with options to personalise, like Glamour, Urban, Sporty. This dual tone colour scheme also brings back memories of the Mitsubishi Pajero.

The low lipped boot with a flattened out bed, make storing and off-loading luggage easy.

While the company plans to launch this car with a 1.3-litre DDiS engine as of now, Vitara Brezza may also have a petrol model later. The diesel engine will generate an output of 66kW power and 200 Nm of peak torque. The car is priced between 7.4 – 10 Lakhs (ex-showroom). You can check out it’s on road price (GST Rates) online.

Maruti Suzuki has drawn a good lesson from their crossover car S-Cross, which was unable to offer the appropriate thrust needed for the launch of Nexa. But in this year’s Auto Expo, with a mindset for “Transformation”, the company has launched a tough new rival for the Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta and the Ford EcoSport, Vitara Brezza.
